I’m new in the industry and as of right now I have gotten my foot in the door a little hauling autos. Trying to find some boards that deal with more hotshot friendly loads rather than 48’ -53’ vans and flatbeds. I’m looking for something along the lines of farm and construction equipment and smaller freight/cargo loads. Also something that doesn’t have huge monthly subscriptions and want a cut of your load. I understand everyone needs to make money but 12-20% of your load is hard to recoup sometimes when just starting out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you guys.

What do you mean 12-20 % of gross for load finding fee ?

Yes. Because some of these boards are charging a subscription and the finders fee. I could understand a little more if I was pulling several loads a week but I’m at maybe 1-2 loads a week of the board maybe.

The public load boards are monthly fee rate, 30 day. The brokers load boards do not cost anything per month. What load board cost you 12 to 20% of gross ?

Central Dispatch for cars is pretty much the standard. There are others you get onto after you been in the biz a bit but Central is kinda king for cars. for Freight most HS guys use TruckStop. DAT is also an option for freight, it's the standard for Semis but not as friendly on the searches for HS stuff like TruckStop is.
