I'm currently trying to pick a job and having a hard time deciding, probably will just pick whichever job gets me through the process fastest as I'm tired of being idle.

Some of the jobs are teamster union so I was wondering about the pension that they offer, everything I've ever read says that the teamsters pension is basically insolvent and will run out of money around 2025. So I was wondering if that was an actual perk or is it going to be like social security, something that I pay for that I will probably never see?

You don't pay for it per se..it's supposed to be included in your monthly dues.
I've got 2 pensions and will have a 3rd from current company. All have been Teamsters jobs but the pensions come from the companies.

Interesting, thanks for the links. I wonder if this passed yet or for how long this will help?

A taxpayer-funded pension bailout is unprecedented, according to The New York Times. Past failed attempts to aid insolvent pensions proposed to offer 30-year loans to the plans, not a multibillion-dollar check.

So basically unless the company goes bankrupt, you won't lose it? I thought they had a general fund based upon whichever union you were under.

I worked for private carriers whose employees were represented by the union. We never wanted union pension or health care and benefits were negotiated as part of the contracts.
The first two were bought out but pension benefits remained.

You don't even have a job and you are already retired. Local jobs pay very well, I was in the other union, Tony was the last B A, did a good job for the drivers.
