Apparently he does not know that tipped employees are paid less and they are taxed on a percent of the tickets they write. The expected tips are to bring their wages up.

But then again, what can you expect?

If they serve you and keep your drinks filled you should tip them. Saying they sent your steak back is when you think they need tipped? Sound like we got a bunch of cheap drivers out there stiffing decent service...:biggrin_2556: You will consider????? shheesh

Why should they get a tip for doing the job they were hired to do?

Do you think they were hired to only bring your food and drinks in a timely manner sometimes?

No they were hired to bring me my order.
The fact they chose a career that requires them to beg for a decent wage is no concern of mine. They chose the career,I did not.

In truth this rarely applies to me as I don't eat out on the road at all,and probably eat out with my wife once or twice a year.

That is like a shipper saying you should not get paid detention.

you got a tip for going above and beyond if your boss (wait staff) doesn't pay enough get a better job, p.s. I've gotten tips also, but I never expect them, a simple "thanks" is plenty

How does them failing to do their job(unloading my trailer in a timely manner) relate.Other than the fact I want them both to do their job.:biggrin_25512:

And if shippers/receivers start asking for tips I'm gonna put the tip of something up an orifice they might find uncomfortable. To be clear a boot in the behind:biggrin_25510:

I used that to give you an idea how a server feels. If you say you are not going to tip because they are just doing their job. Then a shipper should not have to pay you detention. You are a truck driver. Waiting is part of trucking. You don't like that go find another job that pays better.

I can understand a low tip for poor service, but I just can't believe how cheap some people are stiffing good service.

The flaw in that statement is that it is part of their job to unload me in a timely manner, hence the reason my company has in it's contracts pay for the drivers if they fail in their job.

The very same way we have penalties if we fail in timely deliveries(missed appointments).

No one walks out and throws me a bonus for just arriving on at the scheduled time.I do not tip them for unloading on time.

It is not about the money. It is the expectation that I owe them some arbitrary amount just because.I do not.
