Man....that's unfortunate. I'm sorry for all those people dying in that manner. That said, I don't think the driver should get the death penalty. That's a little extreme when it comes to that type of crime, in my estimation.
Maybe. One thing about it, if we execute the driver whose moral bankruptcy caused so many innocent deaths he certainly won't do it again. The death penalty is harsh but when we use it to safeguard society it makes sense.
I know. I'm sure he even tossed them in there at gun point... Or maybe they got in of their own free will. No, at some point people need to realize there are risks. Yes the driver did wrong, but not death penalty wrong. He just provided transport to people desperate for transport and something tragic happened.
Well yea, and he should go to jail. Maybe even for life. The death penalty is a bit harsh. Now if he forced them to get in the trailer that would be one thing, but I seriously doubt he did.
I see where you're coming from, but I'm not exactly blood thirsty by nature and certainly not by this case. I think intent needs to be measured somewhat here. I'm not saying he shouldn't go to jail, lose his license, and what have you. I didn't see where any of those folks were kidnapped. I could be wrong though. I think desperation to get somewhere better, or even safer, sometimes comes at the ultimate price. I'm assuming the driver didn't have those folks hostage and if that's the story, then I don't see where death is the issue. He's never going to drive a semi at the very least and will do a lot of time so I find it u likely that he will commit that crime again.
I don’t feel bad for any of them. They willingly got inside of that trailer for the sole purpose of coming to the US illegally, breaking the law. What's been happening the past 1.5 year is a slap in the face to all those that came here the legal way.
