Hey everyone! I've been a class B driver for 10 years now and I've been trying desperately to find a company in my area that would train me for my class A. Last year I finally caught a break and got hired on with caltrans (that agency you all know and love) I got my class A permit back in January and I've been driving whenever I can. When you think you are ready they will send you to a one week program in Sacramento that will make sure you're ready for your pre trip, skills test and driving test. Well today I took my test and I passed!! I finally accomplished my goal of getting my class A!!
Congrats... I've still got mine, though I haven't been in the high seat since 08. May it take you to new adventures!
Great job! Now the fun starts. Curious what trucks does Caltrans have that require a class a? I've only ever seen caltrans dump trucks
We need a Class A mainly to haul equipment trailers. The sign crew also uses trailers to haul sign posts. Also, there is a transfer driver position that hauls equipment and trucks on a lowboy between different maintenance yards and the repair shop.
