Old Dominion will hire you with no experience, as a new CDL grad--IF you graduated from one of their recommended/preferred CDL schools--AND....they're hiring...and need new drivers badly enough.

Otherwise--Swift will make a better first choice, over Schneider.

Swift has LOTS of terminals and dropyards, for overnight parking.

You can also park at terminals/dropyards at Knight Transportation--since that's Swift's "sister" company.

Your time out with a trainer at Schneider will very likely be short--much TOO SHORT.

The industry average is....about 3 weeks....for being out with a trainer, on his/her assigned tractor.

    My time out with Schneider....on a trainer's truck....was 4 and a half days.....

"Dollar" accounts are a "meatgrinder" for new CDL grads--they will chew you up, and spit you back out.

Leave those "dollar store" dedicated accts for drivers with 3 years experience--and up.

Schneider Bulk is ok, but the dry van can be sketchy on pay.
Tanker training is excellent & you're qualified for that.

This is accurate--Schneider tanker training is arguably some of the best in the industry.

If you aspire to go tanker--this is worth a look.

But be warned--get on a DEDICATED ACCOUNT with Schneider bulk; otherwise, you may well spend too much time sitting.

Sitting = no money. :(

I see Schneider has a bunch of Walmart dedicated accounts near me, are those any good?

    Yes!

If you can do/get on Walmart dedicated--indeed, go for it.....

I never had a bad experience delivering to Walmart DCs.

That account will be very recession-resistant, as well. :)

But Swift has Walmart dedicated, too--that would be a MUCH BETTER choice.

I contacted them but they do not have any tanker positions available near me unfortunately.

If you aspire to tanker duty (and I would encourage that)--you're not totally out of luck.....:)

Foodliner may well hire you, in your area.

"We offer a quality Driver Training program and Entry Level Driver Training for drivers who have less than 12 months verifiable driving experience or zero experience."

You can see that on the following Foodliner page:

Foodliner Truck Driver Training | Careers | Foodliner

Also--Foodliner has 4 terminals in Kentucky:

Foodliner Locations | Terminals | Foodliner

If one can eat there crap, go for it. PTL is way more laid back, just saying.
