I have been a company driver for a little over 4 years and want to start my own journey.
I have always heard that many brokers will not work with you if you take out a minimum insurance of 750K. Is it true?
Or is it not worth the extra money? I work on flatbed.
Also, is 100k cargo insurance basically enough?

    Thank you, Professionals!

1m doesn't cost much more than .75. I actually carry 2m (cad$). 100,000 is basicly minimum for cargo. Again, here when I started out most brokers were cool some demanded 100,000 usd$, now I carry 250k (cdn$). It is a significant cost increase to go to 500 cargo. Unless using it often, not worth it. I have also done loads that require a lot more than that, those I do on a one at a time basis, whatever the premium is my customer pays for it.

Like the gokiddogo I started with 100k cargo but switched to 250k (progressives max) for my flatbed operation. It's not much more expensive for the extra coverage. Also, the 1 million is what many brokers will want to do business with you so get that.

Have any money? Go rent a truck from one of those "reputable" euro trash Chicagoland carriers and lease on. Instant O/O and you'll make millions in no time!!

100k for cargo is the average these days. 2 million for liability and another 2 million for general is enough to cover any claims. When brokers see those limits, they know you mean business. I’ve never ever had an issue finding loads. My premium is about $9500.00
