What do you guys do about rattlesnakes around your truck?

Unless you sort of corner it they will generally take the path of least resistance. You don't mess with it and it won't mess with you. I spent a ton of time in the field while in the Army and have come across just about every type of critter you can think of and the leave it alone and it leaves you alone philosophy worked great.

 

Except when they are ready to shed or just shedded. Seems they are very ornery at that time and I have had them strike at me from distances that other times didn’t seem to bother them.

What do I do? Live where they don't exist lol.

Cuss at them. Hurt their feelings. Tell them they are nothing but harmless overgrown worms.

 

That's like a 20 hour drive away. The northernmost point they've been spotted in my province is about an hour and a half away from me.

 

Got news for you, they like the same temperatures we do but they largely hunt at night in those climates to hot for them to hunt in the daytime.

If it were me i would limit my exposure to a bite by wearing leather boots, some of those fancy snake pants and gloves. Relocating or killing them isn't viable so what else can you really do?

 

Establish dominance. Stand firmly over them. Talk about their mothers.

 

You do that down there, they'll have their shirt off and be all bowed up and flexing in 3 seconds flat!
