6 axle Reitnouer trailer w two drop steer axles

im driving a 6 axle Reitnouer trailer w two drop steer axles, it keeps pushing me while going around corners and round abouts almost jackknifing. I'm good with weight I don't think I'm setting the air pressurers properly on the drop axles the trailer is a rear quad and the drop axles are in the middle. the wet weather is coming little worried of the coming months

any help for this

 

The drops are in the middle? That is opposite what the guys run around here.

 

Don’t you lift the axles or dump the air on sharp corners?

 

there steer axles i was wondering that as well but they are steer axles

Self steering axles react to side forces, they hold straight until acted upon.
The more weight on them the more side force needed to steer them.
3 straight axle groups tend to push in corners as well, 4 axle groups even more.

The lighter your steer axles are the less push you will feel. Lifting the steering axles as you gear down and adding the air as you straighten out will help with the push a lot.

 

I replied to the other thread he started. I think he has too much pressure on the lifts and is carrying too much weight on them. I pulled a five axle for Cliff for a while that had steerable front and rear axles and I never had any handling issues.

i am going to try your ideas about the weights on the axles i cant lift the axles while driving there on there own after you drop them they have self lifting on reverse

 

No worries. Where are you driving? My experience is only in the Northwest where everything is based off your inner bridge. It sounds like our allowable gross is less than what you’re talking about. I did spend a couple years driving a regular 3 axle truck with a 5 axle trailer. I set my lift axles up so that at maximum gross I was right at 34k on the drives and 42k on the tridem on the trailer. I want to say I only carried around 7k pounds on the front lift and about 9k on the rear lift but it’s been about 18 years now. Lol.
