Planning to go OTR with boyfriend

Oh yes, not Naples, but Savona in the North, a regular destination for us carrying containers to the docks bound for Colonel Gadaffi in Libya. Our lorries parked right on the seafront and we all ate together in a nearby restuarant. But those narrow streets were the same and the beautiful women, none of course could hold a candle in beauty to my lady even though we were both over 40. We were friends with an English bloke who lived there with his Italian girlfriend, we used to take him stuff like marmalade that he couldn't get in Italy and, in return we were invited to a local Communist Party party. He was a member but this was no Marxist ranting. The 4 of us squashed into Billy's tiny Fiat 500 and drove through the streets and alleyways to a house where all the faithful were gathered. Music, dancing singing, food and wine in abundance and not a single mention of chairman Mao or anyone from Moscow. Heady days.

 

I like those Fiat cars. Italy is a beautiful country. I enjoyed hearing the language spoken even though I didn't understand it. Hearing it and the everyday noises helped appreciate the ambience and character of the culture.

 

Boy this situation is the perfect text book disaster

 

Ah yes, the langauge, pure music in itself, but we have to beware, even 'I want to kill you' can sound romantic in Italian.
As to the Fiats, I was given a rental one by the insurance here when my car was repaired in another city. No power, couldn't believe it, and how embarrassing to be overtaken by caravans going uphill. Definitely built for narrow village streets.

 

See quite a few Fiats here in the Las Vegas area and lots of Tesla and hybrid Prius.

 

I've been to those parties you mentioned and you perfectly described them. That's all I'll say because this isn't a political thread. Discussions, no matter how innocent, are only allowed on the Politics thread

 

It’s one thing to go on short trips and another on long trips if you can afford it. Your not going to be in control in going to the bathroom whenever you want so bring plan B as a back up. You’re going to need dry shampoo and body wipes to get you through not showering until he’s ready to pull into one. Don’t quit your job and definitely bring a lap top. If you’re lucky hopefully he doesn’t have you getting up every 5 minutes to get something from the fridge or whatever. You’ll also need detsngling spray for your hair. And last but not least. Absolutely have a credit card or money on hand in case you need to get home from anywhere in the US.

 

If my wife and I decided to do team driving, we would both be single, divorced people by now.

 

I’ve been married to my wife for over 10 years and we’re both smart enough to know not to go in the truck together. I was an owner operator for around 6 of those years and she was in my truck riding only 2 times on very short runs. My 4 year old daughter on the other hand, put in many hours with me in the truck.

 

I might invite wife on 70 mile round trip.
