So many are starting up?

United States opened flood gate for Ukrainians during this war with Russia, being Russian speaking myself I can see literally all of them becoming truck drivers .
saw one example yesterday at the Norfolk nit : he was checking in at cargo place and I was checking out , guy checked in and asked me outside where is loading spot, I asked if he got instructions during check in process : he said yes but who cares what the guys said at the windows , 0 English , I advised him to take a course and learn while waiting to be loaded ....funny part that guy has only 4 months experience and came there with rgn trailer

 

Because it's too easy to become an owner operator.

 

I went into trucking as the last stop until I retire. I’ve done about 10 to 12 different things throughout my working adult life. In fact, I would have a hard time choosing if I needed a fallback. That said, I’m truck driving because right now I actually enjoy it. I’ve already told myself when I don’t enjoy it anymore I will quit. of course like everyone else it has its moments when I feel like quitting but overall I still enjoy it. Life is truly too short to do something you hate. Unless you absolutely have to feed yourself and your family.

 

Yeah real funny you gotta love the third world attitudes out here on the road anymore, wonderful.

 

English has become a second language in the car hauling world. I don't hate any of these immigrants though. They are doing a job that alot of Americans are too good for. Getting your hands dirty and physical labor versus swinging doors.

 

I feel the exact same way. I quit the casino business because I wanted to see the country. I love it. I work whenever I want and just finished a 6-month break. I just wish I would have done it 20 years ago. If you are in your early thirties, you have a great and lucrative life ahead of you.

We are seeing more get into this industry even in bad times to make the big bucks ALL BECAUSE OF EASY ENTRY AND A TOLERANCE OF FAILURE THAT ALLOWS ON TO EXIT EASY AND FAST!

 

Yup. Give folks a little line of credit, a cheap LLC fee, and that's seemingly all it takes. I've came across so many drivers that don't have any capital but they are in business for themselves. I can't understand it.

 

I bought 11 trucks from a lender who said that the guy (French) came here, established his business with seed money, got a line of credit, bought two used trucks, ran them to leverage it into purchasing new trucks then took advantage of the Covid giveaway to expanded very fast. He ran it marginally, taking the money out of the bank, moving it off shore, then one day he closed the doors, parked the truck and left the county. It took the lender four months to to repo the trucks, the drivers got screwed out of almost a months pay and the guy can’t be found. The lender said that he figured the guy left with a million clean. The trucks were not maintained at all, they had 150,000 oil changes if that and were really a mess. I got them very cheap.

 

Probably has more to do with the downward trajectory of rates that Americans know don't reward the effort.
