are those 3/8 chains ? I know nothing , but . I want 1/2 inch and plenty of 'em . Overkill better than , me killed .
About the size of the one judge posted. Never hauled them myself but im guessing a 20-30ishk+ load. So id say yes, suicide. No clue how it stayed on that truck as long as it did to begin with.
The only time I ever saw someone being lazy like that is a local driver that was shut tiling them all just a few miles away. Said he would do a dozen or so trips and that was the only way for him to keep up.
I always wondered the trick to use 1 chain for multiple binders on a coil. I'm gonna try that now. We always haul suicide style tho, same concept to run the chains?
Absolutely! It's probably easier on suicide than shotgun unless you have center rails like a Reitnouer.
Which carrier (or carriers) would anyone recommend for drivers who are interested in hauling steel coils -- but have no previous coil (or flatbed) experience? -- L
No good. The spools and stake pockets will only be rated enough to use 3/8. Using 1/2 chain will not provide any advantage.
