ARKANSAS English Checks Have Begun, They’re checking ALL trucks

I for the life of me can’t understand why anyone that speaks the language would be against this. They must also be the same ones that want all the illegals to just stay in the country as well.

Again. MY personal position is english SHOULD be the national language. I have always said that.

But...

I spent 12 years in the army, 6 years of that in the 3rd Inf Regt. 3 times I swore an oath to defend the CONSTITUTION of the United States.

And until the constitution is changed, I will defend EVERYONES rights ... equally.
Change the law. You need 10 states to set up english is the official language and thats enough for a constitutional amendment... Until then, it is not constitutional to restrict ANYONEs right to free speech. In whatever language they choose to express it.


And somewhere else (cant find it right now) 28% of AMERICAN CITIZENS do not speak english in their own homes. All 4 of my wifes grandparents came to this country from Finland. For several years they spoke only Finn. They gradually learned english as they went. My grandfather came from Germany. I grew up on a farm in the german speaking part of Minnesota. I didnt speak english until I was 4. I spoke German.

Just because someone doesnt speak english doesnt mean they arent American Citizens, and it doesnt mean they are here illegally.

 

English aside, you cannot be all right with all the many non citizens (except green card holders) taking CDL jobs, diluting wages and consequently freight rates, compromising livelihoods of people who live here?

 

No. Im not. I have NEVER said I think they are warm and fuzzy people that need to be cuddled.

But the CONSTITUTION says everyone is entitled to due process. You cant just round people up like Jews in Nazi Germany and do whatever the dictator (I mean president) says to do with them. Millions upon millions of people died 80 years ago to prevent that from EVER happening again. I had a few uncles that were part of them millions (that I never met needless to say).

But the way to do it is at the DMV and the border. Supposedly the DMV checks a persons legal status. If they arent doing THEIR job, then they need to bring in people that will.

3.5 million CDL holders in the US. 720,000 LEGAL immigrants included. How many illegals? Percentage wise, not very many I would bet. A few thousand. Maybe a few 10s of thousands.

Is it FAIR to stop EVERY ONE of those 3.5 million drivers God knows how many times a week to try to find a few thousand? MY opinion is no, it isnt worth it. It isnt worth the disruption to the rest of us. Its a violation of OUR rights to have to stop at checkpoints while a sturnbannfurer sagt papiers bitte. No. There is no data on the numbers of illegals with CDLs, but it is believed it isnt all that many.

The safety part I have beat to death. There have been 2 fatal accidents in the past 6 years that I can find where someone that couldnt read english was the cause of the accident. Potholes kill over 2000 people a year, so no, you arent going to convince me that its a safety issue. And no one else has found any either.

And honestly... Think about it. If YOU were an illegal alien how would YOU do it?

I would get a local job, maybe driving a dump truck, local delivery service maybe, something where I dont have to cross a scale at all, I can just go around them. Thats what I would do. So all this crap at scales would NEVER touch me. The only way Im going to get caught is if I have an accident.

So honestly, the illegals arent driving rates down. Its the LEGAL IMMIGRANTS that are. And they have every right to be here. Unfortunately.

 

Simply put, the best solution is to have people prove their legal status when they renew their license every 4 years. In 4 years, you have 99% of the illegals out of the system.

Stopping every driver at scales is NOT the way to do it.

But removing the illegals isnt going to solve the problem you want to solve.

 

Except you forget a driver’s license is a privilege and not a right.

 

No, it’s a right guaranteed by the constitution. He’s said as much in other posts. Lol.

 

What it boils down to is he don’t give a rats ### either way he just doesn’t want bogged down at the scales. There is no difference constitution be ###### in getting them at a scale and at renewal at the DMV. So it’s about him not the constitution that he swore to defend

 

I dont have to wait in lines at the DVM several times a week. Do you?

I cant believe you people that WANT TO wait in lines at the scales. That really boggles my mind. Ignorance can be cured through education, stupidity goes to the bone. I will leave it up to you as to which I refer in your individual cases.

I have shown (many times) that not being able to read english is LESS of a safety hazard compared to even a pot hole much less drunk drivers.

No the overwhelming "opinion" of the board is "lets toss the immigrants out" legal or illegal, we dont care. And Im not afraid to say no. You people are stupid. Like it or not they are here. You dont like it, you can learn a new profession. They have the same rights YOU do.

I dont like it anymore than YOU do, but I am smart enough to accept it. And Im not afraid to defend it. Dont like it? I dont care.

The right to freedom and the pursuit of happiness isn’t suspended, revoked or infringed upon by simply saying they if you cannot communicate in English you cannot drive a commercial vehicle. You simply choose to make your pursuit of happiness a different way.


You make this about the Constitution and poof your chest out about the oath you took to “Defend it against all enemies both foreign and domestic” that’s smoke and mirrors on your part per your post YOU said they can make everyone prove their legal status at the DMV not at the scales. There is no difference in where it’s done. The right to free speech and what language they express it in has 0 to do with driving a commercial vehicle. As in they can say anything they want in any language they want….so long as they can meet the English standard when required. What’s so hard to get about that.


I took that same oath to “Defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies both foreign and domestic.” Earned my CIB doing so. Left the blood of my Brothers over there in that desert. I support the man in office whether I like him or not. As much as burning a US flag boils my blood I do not allow that to get to me or that blood was spilled for nothing. Can you say the same? No you’ve already proven as much. Now I’m done with this argument.
