Need ideas as far as food:

    OK, so i basically drive during the hours of 9pm and 7am so i need good ideas for good food.

    1) my bologna sandwiches just aren't cutting it.

    2) At those hours, there isn't much available except fast-food and that isn't cutting it either. Not to mention turnpike food is expensive.

    3) i'm home everyday, so making and packing a "lunch" is feasable. Perishables are also feasible.

    4) Feel free to list your recipies no matter how complex; If it's good, i will try it.

    5) The objective is good food that is not too complicated to prepare and not too expensive.

    My wife would put what she cooked for the kids and her on a microwavable plate, cover it in plastic wrap, freeze it and it would fit into my cold bag and by the time it's time to eat it's pretty much drfrosted and I stop and nuke it (before I got a microwave in the truck) and have a nice home cooked meal.

    In this day and age of the prepackaged meals just walk the isles and see what floats your boat. Even these non refrigerated meals are pretty good. You'll find the ones you like and those you wouldn't feed to a pig!

    You have the choice of refrigerated, frozen and boxed pre packaged foods but food from home needs to be chilled or frozen and what you cook for the family is just as good on the road!

    Cream cheese and salmon on bagels
    tuna sandwiches or tuna on salad
    sliced fruit apples bananas and strawberry with string cheese
    cold sliced meatloaf with roasted veggies served cold is good
    boiled egg and celery sticks and fresh fruit or some pickles and olives
    chicken cooked with lemon juice garlic and cumin served cold

    just have to make do with store bought ones, I haven't found a decent Bagel shop here, or artesian bread for that matter:biggrin_2558:

    Ok, lets get real. You drive a truck, right? So, unless you have a chef riding along and a fully equipped kitchen on board, you will eat what ever you can scrounge up in the wee hours. And Pardner, that's fast food, as in chips, sodas, candy, burgers etc. Trust me, I know of what I speak........

    Did you miss the part where he is home every day?

    All he needs is to find food that can be eaten cold as is, or nuked in a MW oven.

    Mac'n'cheese can be done in about 10min in a microwave at home and eaten cold or reheated.
