One time i went to a dunkin donuts and got a dozen donuts...I was gonna give them to my dispatchers and load planner, however...they didnt make it to the office. i ate them all. I felt soo bad...haha.

yuppers, thats one of the problems with having a major food chain in a truck stop. is why i am so upset about the Denny's and why so many others are as well. ate at 1 Denny's at a pilot. food was nothing like outside a truck stop. the food is not prepared as well, and is higher priced and guess what else. can't get the same menu as outside a truck stop either. the waiter paid no attention to us, i got severely burned, and had to grab someone to get some cold water. the waiter was no where to be found. hubby said when the food was given to us he needed more coffee. didn't get any more til after his meal was gone. They treat you bad because you live in a truck. feel you should be happy to get anything you can get. i say tell them you are worth more than their crap and deserve more. they will never get another penny from us.

 

The negative comments were due to him questioning if I was actually a driver.
The savings he is showing though are not covered by the truck stop but by the fuel supplier. The only mark down you will see that is covered by the truck stop is the differance between Cash and credit.
The fuel supplier is making bank. The actual truck stop is not.

 

Yes some of this is true, but you really think it costs 10 bucks in electric and water for each trucker to shower? or for them to break even on brewing that coffee they have to charge you 1.75 a cup or 1.39 for you to put it in your own cup? they are making money. and believe me, they didn't need to put a Denny's into their truck stops and take out the supplies you need for your truck (and they are getting rid of souvenirs, they were selling a lot of those just to my hubby alone lol) They do not own the Denny's they are renting the space to them, and the profrit makers they were making money on fuel from are the ones they are losing like my hubby. the owner operators. He is not a big company like JB or Swift calling pilot up every month saying okay we want 10000 gallons of fuel so we are gonna pay you 2.71 a gallon for it. okay they take that deal. so when you see the pumps say they are out of fuel.... might be for you, but not for JB and SWIFT cause they already paid for it.

think about it. they didn't need to destroy a good thing. J was doin good, and their restaurants had 4 wheelers in them too. They had business from both ends, but they decided who was more important to them in my eyes. so i say they don't need our money then huh?

ps Pilot also has their own fuel and their own refineries, so think about their profit loss again now...

How is the mark down not from the truckstop??
Those prices are only good at TA and PETRO'S.
The whole concepr of cost plus is....the truckstop is selling the fuel AT COST WITH A SLIGHT MARKUP!! hence cost plus pricing.
TA and PETRO wouldnt be selling fuel with NO profit at all, that my friend would be BAD business.

It was just seen and taken by the wrong person and I did not quote it at the time so you took it as an attack on you.

If you were a business owner would you try and limit your customer base to a small subset of possible customers? Or would you try and sell your product to as many people as possible?
The truckers are a captive audience to truck stops. We have no choice, we have to stop at places that have parking. Sure, we do not have to go to peelots or J's though they now command a 20% market share of on road diesel. So they will get plenty of truck business.
So now they need to try and increase the sales to the non-trucking public.
I have not seen where they are taking out truck facility's or parking in the merge. Maybe they are, but I have not seen it. The point is that they are a business, and need to make money off as many people as they can.
When I was not with large company's and I could choose where I purchased fuel, I would go to only the mom and pop truck stops. Now I am with a large carrier again and they route for fuel. So thus I am at peelots all the time.
If I ever decide to buy a truck I will probably be right back to small truck stops again.

Maybe the boofey bandits will find some other trough to dine at since Denny's actually serves food cooked to order not the swine trough found at truck stops

 

they had 1 problem... they wouldn't take comdata. they had a problem with them years ago and stopped taking it. had they taken it they might have been able to survive. and as far as the j's restaurant, it was more than a buffet. cook to order meals there too. but for those who might not have much money on them for a few days and want some REAL food to eat til they could get an advance or paid for the week...... they would get one to go and put it in their fridge. please excuse us BOOFEY BANDITS. we no longer have that problem thank goodness but there are many out there that still do. And just because they are having money troubles GIVES YOU NO RIGHT TO CALL THEM NAMES and put them DOWN! your words disgust me how you can live the life you live knowing you must have been THERE at least once and you have forgotten and feel pleasure in making fun of them. sad..... not everyone can afford COOK TO ORDER every meal. How nice it must be for you to flaunt it in their faces HUH? (hope my disgust is being heard)
