I am currently looking at buying some trucks at an on-line auction and all I have are the VINS and a grainy picture. Is there a site somewhere (or a dealer who isn't a jerk) that I can get the build sheet from? The people at the auction know NOTHING about trucks. I phoned for details and all I got was a guys who "thinks it's a diesel." My dealer isn't willing to look it up for me (because I own 10 Peterbilts. Yeah ignoring me is a great way to earn my business back)

You have my sympathy with the dealer BS. Local KW dealer in my area is same ole thing. The owner is a great guy but place has gotten to big and have to deal with a bunch of very arrogant employees. They know i need them more than they need me. It has come close to going elsewhere on more than one occasion. Somehow, i lucked out and got to know a girl in bookkeeping in the parts department. She is many X's more helpful than the actual parts department help. I dont even talk to the parts dept anymore. I call her and everything is taken care of. She is a huge credit to the dealership.

Don't know if it is a "sign-o-the times", but I have the same problem in my area. I live approx. 75 mi. from my KW dealer, and when traveling to their store, I pass two very well stocked independent parts houses, and a very well stocked/run International dealer, all within 15 mi. from my home. Calling the KW dealer for a part # will usually have you on hold for near an hour, and they have even given me the wrong #, so when one of the local houses cross it, I go home with the wrong part.

I try to deal with them as often as possible, but when you discover that you need a part 30 minutes before closing, and have an hour and fifteen minute drive to the KW house, versus 20 minutes to one of the local houses, any of which will, and have either hidden the part outside, or waited for me, kind of makes it a no brainer.

Thanks for the link. At least now I have some info. Unfortunately it doesn't tell me if I have wheel locks which is what I really need to know. I'll keep digging.
