    the viloations they mention in the article make sense to me, Brakes hanging is normaly a bad thing, 70kph over limt, also bad, no seat belt (same guy twice) is just stupidity on the drivers part.

    Some drivers just don't get it, also do understand why/how some people think they can get away with it too.

    Hell I drive a 1986 Freightliner (looks great and mechanically is wonderful), I got pulled into the scales last month for a full inspection and it passed with no problems. Its just a matter of doing ones job, yeh sometimes it sucks getting greasy fixing something or getting wet when you gotta check/adjust brakes but it has got to be done.

    On another note, my brother who is a Missouri Trooper just told me there is a nationwide DOT enforcement scheduled for next week. Four days worth. Don't know which days, but keep your nose clean just in case.

    The numbers of tickets handed out in B.C. can be quite misleading and usually is, when they check you they have every intention of finding something, I am sure there are the usual knuckleheads with a brake cammed over etc. but operating in B.C. is like entering Russia with an American flag on your back.
    Trucks and the people that drive them are being targeted and used like scape goats and being maligned as criminals that are out of control. The government is using commercial drivers as a major source of income to supply not only cash for them to squander but also as an employment gimmick to expand government. This also gives government the ability to flex its muscle and intrude into your life poking and prodding and peaking into everything you have and do.

    If there are bad offenders deal with them but quit making this country into a police state like third world countries with tin pot dictatorships at the helms.

    same as in surrey,bc. parked on street and walked into the cemetery's shop to find out which of the 3 driveways i should come into. when i got back to the truck there was a rent a cop giving me a ticket because i was parked on a residential street. the driveway the cop wanted me to go in, would of had my trailer tires running over peoples graves. told the rent a cop i had more respect than that.

    Actually in B.C. we are in the middle of a recall to get the jerks out. Political statement.
    I worked in Port Kells and the trucks in B.C. do get used we have mountains, We also have inspectors that will pass anything, when they do the blitzes they really go after the pebble haulers who can avoid the scales and usually are on the CB as soon as a check area is set up.
    I personally use to have a business card from head inspector and turned in lots of units. One had a smashed relay under the fifth wheel, that was a N Yankee truck, bed bug haulers with no brakes on the trailer. we had one guy come in and get his stacks changed, and when the mechanic drove it in it wandered all over the road we checked it out and both ends of the drag link were worn out, when advised of this his answer was, that he could not afford to fix everything.
    Getting caught with a light out is one thing having major problems is another and if you get caught, you pay. When I worked in Sumas we use to get a lot of units found with problems at the boarder, Dozens were sent back, and the Washington State patrol would have them met with a tow truck.
    All it takes is one driver or company or corrupt inspector to kill someone.
    The inspector that passed a farm vehicle that 6 people died in got off.
    I would say if your vehicle is not made to run in the mountains or is worn out stay out. Washington, Oregon, and California are all about the same, when it comes to inspections. I drove many years ago and I would add Ohio.

    I drive a 2010 Prostar. It is so easy for things to break on these new-er(?) trucks than it was on the older trucks. That old saying, "They don't make 'em like they used to!" is very applicable to trucks and cars.
    But, if a quick look at the truck everyday is all it takes to save me money, I'm there! Even if putting up with minus temps for 15-20 minutes saves me paying a D.O.T. or M.T.O. fine; I'd rather be cold than broke.
