I really feel bad for you veteran truckers. I'm very green so I could be partially right here or completely wrong but it seems like the trucking companies are now all about hiring two kinds of people. Rookies and foreigners. I am not prejudice but the foreigners are willing to work for low rates. The rookies have no choice but to except what is offered to them. This means the trucking companies can get the same job and have to pay a lot less. Unfortunately it's out with the old and in with the new for these trucking companies. It doesn't end in trucking. It's happening in a lot of different fields.

Again, of course I can be completely wrong. I haven't even started trucking yet but this is what seems to be happening.

Yeah my dad was making .41/mile back in the late 80's. This was a union job but still the union rates aren't that much better now. Something isn't right about this!

I'm hoping we will see a change with this new CSA crap. I'm hoping that by getting rid of the ones with bad records it will cause the trucking companies to increase thier pay to get truckers who actually care about the equipment, being on time, and the load there carrying. Being that anything we do as far as accidents or sevice violations now go against both the carrier and the driver it should cause the companies to only select the cream of the crop for employment. And as everyone knows, the only way you can get that is if you pay decent. There are a lot of great truckers out there that are not getting paid what they should. Like a few of you have said, you were getting pay back in the late 80's and 90's compared to today's rate. Hopefully someday soon these companies will realize that they are low balling the #### out the "Professional truckers" and need to step up the pay issues.

Wasn't saying anything against W/S AT. Was simply stating that W/S has a lower starting pay then some of the others do. I know they make up for it with the miles you get and all the accessory pay. Remember, W/S is my number one choice. Matter of fact, talked to Sandy today and I'm approved once I get out of school...
