Not sure about over the road,, but you may want to check out some construction companies. They're usually Mom and Pop type. Hauling their construction equipment on flats and step deck.
    Oh,
I know of a Drilling Company up there where you're at. They're kind of small to midsize company. They lay pipes under water. They're not your typical Trucking Company. We hauled for them Many Years ago. They go over the road. And they sure do pay well ! Again, That's because they're not your Typical Trucking Company. But I don't think we're Allowed to Give out a NAME on this forum. Then we're considered Advertising. They were out of either MN or WI, one or the other. I can't quite remember which one.

Now since the Gov's passed that law for infrastructure., we'll start seeing more hauling of construction equipment for that. Google the word Drilling + the state., or construction + the state. and see what comes up. And then whatever comes up, you can then call them and inquire about it.

I drove for 6 mos. for JABI Trucking in Oakville, IA. Not sure where they are now since the Miss. River took the whole town to New Orleans early 07/08. About all step-decks. Small co. Hardly a day went by I didn't want to throw in the towel with ol' Jon. I drove all the way up there & met with his son, only to have him tell me over brunch they cut my pay for wks. 3 - 6. Can lie at the drop of a hat. They wouldn't even mail my paystubs/paychecks to my house. I had to meet with his son to get them & they'd play all kinds of games. I learned my lesson well with these people about not letting people jerk you around. You gotta put your foot down early with these types, or they'll just get into you deeper and deeper. I wrote him seveal letters asking him to pay $ he owed with no reponse 'til 2 wks. before the 2nd yr. anniversary of my voluntary termination. He then wrote me a letter asking for a bit more time to work on my claim. I'd gone to a lawyer, H.J. "Jack" Dane in Davenport, IA, who had advised me I had a 5 yr. statute of limitations on the case. Since I wasn't concerned about going beyond 2 yrs. I let ol' li'l big man have a bit more time. I knew he wasn't going to pay what he owed, but I figured what the heck, I'll give him a little more rope to hang himself. He only paid part of what he owed. We went to court. The judge threw my case out saying I only had a 2 yr. statute of limitations. I'm aware ol' Jon had contacted at least 2 other lawyers re. my case and the judge who was supposed to hear the case recused himself because he'd advised li'l big man on my claim. Anyway, he's one of those punks you gotta watch every step of the way. He's just a common everyday low life who'll tell you every chance he gets he goes to church on Sunday.
