    Not sure about JCT but when I pulled for Prime back in 05 that had like a 2 hour class we had to take about the reefer units. All the stuff you need to know. How to jump start your truck off the reefer unit or Vise Versa and then all the other stuff dealing with trouble shooting and figuring that stuff out. Pretty easy especially if you know about mechanical stuff.

    The Reefer Training comments made me think of a story I heard recently, A "new", England driver had just finished all his training, ride with instructor, picked out his new ride and signed all the papers!!!! What a proud day! Got his first load from the Salt Lake yard headed to Tyson in Amarillo!! He must have been excited to get out on his own,,,,, grabbed the trailer and out the gate and on his own, freedom at last he must of thought as he left the yard and security check. Arrived on time at Tyson, again pretty proud! His turn at the gate and security checked the trailer as he presented his BOL's inside the guard shack. The guard that checked the trailer came in and asked what his reefer was set on and he proudly replied that it was checked and set at his yard. The guard said ok, lets check your bills of lading, ok 28+ lets verify it and the driver walked to the trailer to do so. This would have been a proud day indeed had the reefer unit had actually been turned on:biggrin_25514:! Not sure if that was the shortest gig on record for an England driver! Moral is "Make sure the reefer is running and set right":biggrin_25525:

    Hmm. If he picked it up loaded on the yard, the reefer should have been set and running - that doesn't say much for the driver who dropped it OR Crash 'n Roll's yard crew...

    But just thinking about a $80,000-$100,000 thawed meat load and all the assorted juices and stench that would accompany it - bet ol' CR wasn't happy with his newest protoge...

    I think it points towards the new trainee being an airhead. It was up to him to ask for help if he didn't know. He rode with a trainer for how many weeks and he didn't bother to ask about the reefer controls. Dinkus.

    Reminds me of one of my company drivers that I ran into, fresh out of training, was an L/O, but had no clue had to turn the reefer he was hauling to OFF position!!! Gotta like the kind of trainer he had, eh.

    How much training does it take to figure out how to turn it off? It's all right in there with the temp settings.
