Cummins isx egr and turbo problems.

Make sure your ECM calibration is up to date. Many EGR and turbo problems are actually due to obsolete software in the ECM. New software strategies improve operation and reliability of these components!

 

At that rate you could easily have done a PDI tune to delete all of it and be happy

PDI modifies the ECM to get rid of all the headaches and costs associated with these engines. I've sold a few tunes doing this and the customers not only didn't have any more break downs, but their fuel mileage increases significantly also.

It is about as legal a speeding, driving drunk, overloaded, out of hours, just don't get caught!

 

In EU it is illegal to disable EGR, SCR and any other emission stuff too.

 

Still a lot of operators are doing it and I don't know anyone who have got caught. But their operation is much more profitable and enviromentally friendly because of lower CO2 emissions.

 

It is the NOx that will sky rocket. NOx is a green house gas and is what EGR takes care of mostly.

 

Yes and your car puts out more green house gas than your truck - rudolph diesel must have thought lets run my engine on its own waste product and let the end user pay

 

This is what gets me.
My truck might produce more "greenhouse gases". And are we really sure there is such a thing? It gets 1.1 mpgs better now than epa friendly. But look at what I am saving in "greenhouse emissions"; less truck trafic hauling fuel, less fuel being refined, less oil being brought into the country and to top it off I making less soot (my stacks stay cleaner longer). I think I am doing a better job of protecting the climate then the do gooder tree hugger.

 

I agree. Believe me, it would be nice to no have to fix egr related stuff. I am just as sick of it as you guys! I am just saying be careful about what you do.
