Glider, get the TND 710. It has a bigger screen, and more features, well worth the $$

Thats what I would like to do....
    Just checkin on input,,,,
Are a lot of any "bugs" worked out with the new TND 710 ?
And for it's size, can it still windshield area mount over dash?
I for sure could use better graphics cuz of the poor old eyes,,,hard to see small print type units without puttin on the reading glasses.
Cant remember where I was, but I saw the 710 on sale for bout $449,,,,reasonable?
    Thanks WingRider

Bugs are far and few between. As far as mounting, the windshield is still doable, however, I mounted my GPS's on the dash below the level of the windshield so as not to block my view at all. $449 is a good price.

I purchased the TND700 in January from Diesel Boss, great guys.

About 3 weeks ago it died. I contacted Customer support. They required a copy of the original invoice, no problem. I faxed all the required information and received my RMA. Sent the unit in to the provided address. This week I received a UPS notice that it was being shipped back to me. The problem is it is being sent to my name but Diesel Boss's address in Oregon, I live in NJ. As soon as I got the notice I call customer support, the agent I got hardly spoke English and he had trouble understandin me and I had trouble understaning him. I do not thing he comprehended the situation but he said he would correct the problem. I checked the tracking again today and gues what, its stilll on the way to Oregon! I call again and got a different agent, explaind the problem they said the address they had in the data base was correct. I tried to explain again that the unit was shipped to the wrong address and they said that couldn't happen because the correct address was in the data base. Extreme frustration at this poit. I ask for a supervisor. I explain the trouble to him. he appoligizes and said he will contact the shipping department. I asked to be kept informed of the progress of getting this straightened out. His responce was I could call back at anytime for an update.

I consider this completely unacceptable. I did not creat the problem and I do not have the ability to drop what I am doing to call them.

So now I have no idea where my unit is going or when it will get there. I contacted Diesel Boss to let them know they might be getting my unit they where great and understood the problem instantly. If they can understand the problem why can't RM?

If this is RM's idea of customer support they wont see any more of my money.

So I have an update for you. Rand has requested an intercept on the package and has told UPS to reroute it to you. Now this was the right thing to do naturally in light of the shipping mistake, but it doesn't alleviate the fact that the box has to make it's way back to you.

I'm sorry that there wasn't more I could do to expedite it because it never actually got delivered here before it got turned around.

I'll track it again on Monday for you just to make sure that it is on track. It is in Illinois right now, so it should be to you without too much of a delay hopefully.

I noticed with the latest update that the unit seems a LOT faster. It still kind of lags when you zoom out, move to a large city, and start zooming in. But that's the only lag I've noticed. No more menu lag, button lag, moving around map lag.

Also we've been having substantial flooding up here in Manitoba. Highway 75 which is the main highway to the states is closed, it connects to I-29. It may be closed for another 6-7 weeks. Many other routes are closed.

I would suggest adding this data to the construction update.

I have identical second and third problems as him, smaller text doesn't really bother me but the check box gets really annoying.

Also, E Model? I'm assuming thats a specific model of the unit itself, so does that mean there are updates available or not?

I quoted what the other guy said so you'd understand, I have both of those problems with mine since the last update. First one isn't a problem, however the check box not staying selected is quite aggravating.

I have the T5E, but you still didn't answer the question of are there map updates for all models and are they something you have to pay for. Granted you stated that the T5E has the latest but I know for a fact that its far from perfect. So as asked before, are there updates and are they something a already paying customer has to pay for? I also saw somewhere else that the map programming is something like 2.5 gb of data.
