I've been a doormat at pretty much every job I've ever had. Now that I'm used to it... I should be fine.
I an interesting delivery last week. The Shipper put the wrong P.O. on the bill.. I was 30 minutes early for my appointment. By the time the consignee figured out their paperwork, an hour went by. They made a note that said "Driver late, Driver issue" on the paperwork for me to sign after unloading me. I called in to figure it out. I did have to sign the dumb paper full of lies, but Knight had my back...
Fortunately, Knight said it was okay. I did my macro on the qualcomm, so they know I'm on time. Plus... I have cell phone records when I called in proving I was on-time/early once we figured out the incorrect P.O. was on the paperwork. Had to wait a while for the shipper to fax the proper paperwork over.
Unfortunately, this is how consignees try to not pay detention, but now I know what this specific customer needs on a piece of paper before I get there. They tried to doormat me, but Knight didn't, so I'm happy.
I'm sure I will have tons of experiences out there where I will potentially hate working as a trucker from time to time, but that kind of thing comes with any job.
This sure beats working a sales job for minimum wage and never getting commission.
Plus... I've gotten to meet some really cool and some really scary folkds out there. Fun times.. -
The adventure begins..... tomorrow. I go in the AM to take another road test.. then I get a truck. Will update tomorrow, then.

I don't know the specifics of the rider policy. I'm told it can only be immediate family. I don't know if you can take more than one passenger at a time, though.
I'll ask about it tomorrow.BigR Thanks this. -
the way i see it, the guys who complain all day just get ignored......then when they have a legitimate complaint nobody is listening
i drive junk all day, but it is safe enough for the road so i shut up about it.....but when something isnt safe, like the ICC bumper that was very loose last week, my dispatcher had my back on it, because he knew that when i do happen to refuse a certain piece of equipment or a certain dock, it is legitimateBig Don Thanks this. -
All is good. Passed my road test with flying colors. Getting my own truck tomorrow morning... they're giving me time to put stuff in it and I hit the road solo tomorrow night.
