Do any of you have any experience with the Android tablets?

I have been kicking around the idea of buying one, there are several brands out there and the ones that has my interest are the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and the Motorola Xoom.

What's good or bad about these two?

I've done some reading on an Android forum but many times there are to many fan boys posting crap to get real info.

What would you like to know? If your trying to access secure sights that use active X no current tablets. But for general web browsering, video chat, email playing games or watchtong movies the Android tablets rock. I prefer the xoom it has dedicated sdcard slot for 32gb more storage plus it also has 32gb internally. Its built like a tank, has dedicated microusb slot also a seperate micro HDMI slot. Using google maps with satellite is great for looking customers. The Samsung has no sdcard card or seperate cables every thing is done via it's proprietary plug. Also xoom will get software update faster then any other Tablet.

I thought at one time I read where the software on the Xoom wasn't upgradeable unless you sent the tablet to Motorola, is that wrong, or can or do OTA updates?

I'm using the Samsung Tab as I type this. The best suggestion I could give, is go to a few electronic stores and check them out. Compare some of the features and play with them a bit. It you get a decent sales person, they should be able to give you details on them. I drilled the poor kid at Best Buy.:biggrin_2559:

This 7" Tab has all the features I need for OTR use. I can wifi, hotspot, bluetooth and/or tether it to my computer. I can also use it as a GPS and Samsung does sell a dash mount for it. My unit is for Verizon network with a 3gb plan at $35 a month. I have yet to come close to the limit but I don't watch videos or do much downloads. You can also upgrade microSD to 32gb on this unit.

I purchased mine at Best Buy but if I buy again, it will be online. It's cheaper, imho

Check out newegg.com, they are reasonable on their prices.

Blackberry also has a tab type unit out, the playbook. For a while it looks like it will only be available from sprint. So that could be a limiting factor.

From What I have seen, looks like a good product. have yet to be able to spend a lot of time with one.

I heard the ASUS EEE Pad is nice, it even has an attachable keyboard/touchpad that pretty much makes the tablet a netbook.
