You possibly wouldn't have gone to TMC training? Would this be the answer a TMC instuctor is looking for? I know I'll get this type of info there, but just trying to get ahead of the learning curve.

Don't try to get ahead of the curve, you'll just wind up confusing yourself. Let them teach you the proper way THEY want it done and just do it. You'll be fine. They are well respected in the flatbed business.

Can only be loaded suicide at TMC.

    5 chains
    5 binders
    10 edge protectors
    2 4x4's
    2 coil racks
    2 coil mats
    1 4" strap

    OEF08 Thanks this.

That's the most absurd thing I have ever heard!

I'm sure there must be some "logic" behind this.

Never worked for Too Much Chrome but understand the suicide only rule since some places have no crane and have to unload from the side and everywhere can unload suicide with a forklift.

Steel hauler 101 rule, never screw yourself from getting unloaded.

I did, albeit a few years ago, the only thing I see missing is extra dunnage for the front and back end of the tarp, and of course, a gaggle of bungies for the tarp. They had us put one 6" strap over the top/middle of the coil also. Claimed it helped to keep the bed from "flexing". Don't know if it did or not, but I always did it. Only took a couple minutes and added another 5k lb of securement. No such thing as OVERsecurement.

Smaller coils can (and usually did for me) get loaded shotgun, especially if there were more than one. Biggest shotgun was three smaller coils loaded that way by crane for me.

Smaller coils can be load skidded or shotgun. But a 40,000 lb coil can only be loaded suicide at TMC unless ok'd by the safety dept. Never asked why. They said do it and I said ok.

I tried to send you a private msg earlier and it wouldn't let me because I'm new to the forum and I have to have 7 post before I could send any msgs. Colorato you went to TMC right, I read your thread from oreintation up to you leaving TMC. Had a run of bad luck with bad equipment at TMC huh? I wanted you to answers this question, so thank you. Thanks to everyone else as well.
Colorato do you have any other pointers for me, you know something you would've like to have known before going to orientation.
    Besides, don't go!!
