You dont HAVE to have a passport. I know several guys who've been here for years who dont have one. I dont have one and they've never said anything to me. Want to get one sometime though

Company drivers are subject to forced dispatch - if they send ya there, you go there. We don't go to Mexico, but Canada is a whole 'nother country!

They can't send you to Canada if you don't have a passport though.

I'm led to believe that you're going to need a passport to get hired these days. A lot of us don't have passports, but 5 years ago it wasn't required.

My son didn't have one to start with, but they did say he will be required to get one, so he must be able to obtain one to be hired.
as soon as he got his DCL, he was taken down to apply for his passport and prime fronted the $$ which they took out of his checks..
I do belive however, due to the amount he paid, he did not get the full passbook type passport, but got the pass card instead, which is good for Mexico/Canada border crossings and cruise ships.. but is not good for flying or any other foriegn countries..

I was told after getting the CDL the next step was to go to the post office to get passport. When I was at SpringMo a group of fresh CDL drivers where taking the shuttle to get theirs.
