no its 183 days spent in alberta. i work in ab, live in 100 mile house. coworker hit elk in alberta in November, he has territory z insurance, but works 20/10, so was in alberta more than 183 days, insurance was invalid. EXCEPT, that he had 3 mos mar-may which he worked at site in BC, so he was under the 183 days and magically had insurance again. ive asked 12 icbc brokers about territory z and alberta, not one has known about the 183 day rule, yet.
Well I'll check into that.. icbc.. what do we say, say no.. what do we do, deny the claim, deny deny deny... I bet they sing that every morning.
email from ICBC to insurance broker that didnt believe me... yes, you should check into it, but your broker won't know about this....like i said, Ive asked 12 brokers, none knew....but of course were willing to take the money.
after 183 days its worthless, stop paying it then...its a crazy situation. the solution being inspect/register/insure vehicle in alberta...but then how is that legal back in BC? i get pulled over where i live with bc dl, and ab ins...hows that gonna go over?
So...how does a driver that has a camp job or stays in different motels comply? He hasn't moved or changed his address, he just happens to be working in a different Province. What address would he use being as he isn't anywhere permanent? I don't see having a DL that's different from your ins/plate. Tell the "Rainbow Rider" that you have multiple residences.
dont know anythign aboot the multi addresses. i live in company provided house while in ab, i had to give the addy of it to broker to get the terr z. the issue is where the vehicle is THE MAJORITY of the time...if its multi addys, dunno how that jives. i used to drive OTR out of vancouver, drive down, park in fenced/gated customs compound for 40 days, drive home....for that i was to insure it based in vancouver AND aircare it ...insurance is retarded.
Alberta and BC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding about Licences being recipricol for workers.
