    Real quick question just to fill the "void" in my head. If you are with landstar with your own truck, are you able to work for another company? Say you run for a couple weeks then take some hometime. while your home a local company has some containers to run or some logs to pull or dump trailer whatever the case may be. Are you able to do that while your home, then check the load board and get back on the road?

    No. If you lease to any carrier then they have exclusive use of your truck. You cannot legally haul for anyone without authority. If you want to haul part time for Landstar and do other loads on your own then you need to get your own authority. If you try to run freight without running the money through Landstar they will cancel your contract.

    Ok got ya. that seems sensible. I figure that if you run right you will be getting paid good enough not to need to run anything at home. But just wanted to ask. Thanks for the answer.

    I know you can trip lease with Landstar, but the landstar signs have to be covered up.

    If you broker a load while leased to Landstar you will need to run the load through them. I don't recall Landstar allowing owner operators to haul loads on their own without running it through a Landstar agent. Whether the signs are covered or not, Landstar will likely be liable should the truck be involved in an accident. In order to book freight you will need to run under your own or someone else authority.

    Good luck signing on. You'll really like it here. You were speaking of graphics. Check out the graphics on my truck here;

    My son is a trucker and he also does graphics. He designed these for my truck. I think he did a great job. He said that any Landstar drivers who tell them I sent them will get a special discount. He told me the ones he put on my truck would cost about $200. He can design whatever you want, and he'll send them to you so you can install them yourself, or, if you get around Lancaster, Pa., he will arrange to meet you and put them on for you. It took about 2 hours for what he did here.
    Let me know if anyone is interested, or just go to www.prosignanddesign.com and contact him directly.

    Thank looks nice! Is that a former Interstate Distribution Truck? The graphics looks great! I wonder what they would do in the Arizona heat? Nice to advertise for him as well. I would let him put his logo on my stuff. Thanks for the heads up, so do you basically run up and down the coast? Thanks.
