A couple questions from a potential Swift driver: Does Swift use cameras in their trucks? (Dashboard cameras and/or driver facing) They advertise the Qualcomm being able to create a Wi-Fi hotspot in the truck. How does this work?
I dont know of any companies that have cameras IN the truck. I would think if their were, they wouldn't have any drivers. As far as the Wi-Fi thing, my 2013 pete has the latest Qualcom in it that will hook to any WiFi in the area. It does not create it's own hot spot
There is a company by me that has cameras one faces the road and the other right on the driver...but I suppose they stay for the $70-80,000 a year being a company driver.
Howell motor freight in roanoke,VA has at least some trucks with cameras facing the driver that are mounted on the mirror. Drousy driving study for VA tech.
Currently there are no cameras in the truck or in the Q/C. The Q/C has a function to access wifi, but as of now it is not active in Swift trucks. What Swift does have is a video recording device in the trailers. Some are real, some are dummies. If you look at the nose of one of the newer trailers you will see a small solar panel near the top of the driver's side. If you have the opportunity to look in the trailer look at the corresponding location on the bulkhead and you will see a group of cameras watching the trailer's interior.
