Can you have a UPS box in GA but "live" in FL? Im technically not going to have a home in FL just family n such..just use a friends address on my License, gonne try the "homeless" trucker thing, save some money pay off some debt.. Will this work?

Yeah you can do it but good luck on that plan to be a homeless truck to pay off debt . I don't think Dave Ramsey would endorse that . More wannabes than not come out of the experience deeper in debt if their training wasn't government funded .

As RickG stated this may be easier said then done however if you are going to do it pick a state that doesn't have a State Income Tax - there was a recent thread on here and it listed like 8 or so states that do not have one. I get it though, you cant have a FL address and get hired and you do not want to go too far from the "home" base for mail either. At least in a state with no state income tax you are ahead by 6% or so. Just my .02 here!

Another one representing the 904 here, I am currently looking into getting myself a UPS box w/ address. I am looking into Nevada (Friends that live there) but realized that a lot of companies don't hire out there, so I might look into Texas or Tennessee for the UPS box. BTW CCJR76, what school are you attending?

Ah, ok. You should look into Florida Rock, they deliver fuel where I work at, and they do hire guys right out of school. I am looking into them, but yet I would not mind driving OTR for a while to experience the country.

Hey let me know how National is, I am looking into them, I need to find out about their financing program. I want to go FSCJ program down at VQQ, but I full time, and the schedules will conflict.

Ok, yeah I didnt think FL rock hired right out of school, def going to look into them.

Will do on the training, If you can look into the WIA/ Workforce Investment Act that the worksource offer, that's what I did. They cover the cost of the training and all you pay for is the extras physical, 3 yr driving rec, permit..etc Im working FT to, just going to burn my vacation for the hands on training take a month off.

Thanks, I thought you would have to be un employed to do that, but I will look into that. With some of the Fla Rock drivers, they tell me, they hire people right out of school.

Yes, you can "live" with a friend or family in any state of the union (maybe even in Alaska and Hawaii). In fact, you may want your "home" on the opposite side of the country from where you would really like to spend your time off. Larger trucking companies like to keep you as far away from home as possible. So, if you prefer to drive on the west coast, give Maine as your home address.
