Anybody had any good experiences with C-15 Acert engines? Im looking at a 07' Pete 387 C-15 435 with 13 speed. The truck looks clean and well maintained but I have read quite a few negative posts about the Acerts. I have had a couple of bad experiences with Detroit engines with egrs, so i guess I'm wondering if the dpf is junk too?

I hace 07 acert 435hp, keep the rpms a hairline blow 1300 that is where you will get the best fuel mpg. I get 6.6 mpg when hauling 45k, I get 6.8 if its around 37k. If its around 20k I get 7.8mpg, those aint my grossweight #s, those #s are the loads weight. All I did to is the fuel temp resistor. Everything else is factory. The 07 dont have dpf on it. I love my acert.

OK. Well I'm new to the Acerts. I got underneath the truck and saw what looks like a big muffler. I was assuming that was the dpf. what is it? Please excuse my ignorance on C-15's. I've run pre emission Detroits for most of my career with liitle but very rough experience with some detroits with egrs that were pieces of official junk. The truck I'm looking at is an 07 Pete 387 C-15 435 13 speed with apu. it looks clean and in good shape . just trying to make a wise and informed purchase there 10-4.

If it's an '07 387 I would say it is a big muffler. No DPF on an '07. I just sold an '06 KW with a 475 ACERT, honestly not my 1st choice for a CAT but it worked ok, had 987,000 when it went over the curb with nothing more than a tuneup done to it. MPG was less than a 6NZ but I could avg. 6.5 pretty simply with it.

Hummmm. If I remember correctly , the Acert engine was Cats response to DPF. When they couldn't get a Patent on the design , they picked up their marbles and went home.
