Been there before. I love running out across the interstate talking to old timers and guys like me younger but been at it since day 1. (My dad had me in trucks and on tractors at age: 8days old. I used to sit in class and draw pictures of trucks and think about trucks. Lol.

i was on my way to Atlanta one night and about 4 of us caught up with each other on mt eagle and we bullshitted about trucks, loads, women, what we do when we're home, lights, childhood, you name it we spoke of it.

Well it may be that you have some bad Transistors in the Amp or the key circuit is malfunctioning.. In almost all these type amps there is a little plug at the rear of the radios main circuit board that controls the amp switching voltage if you could unplug it, it would dissable the amp section but that may or may not solve the heat issue. I wish was there I could fix this for you but you will most likely have to find a shop hopefully one you can trust..

Bottom line the guy who sold you that radio would be getting it back.....
I think you will be pleased with a new Galaxy......Tell him you want a DX98VHP or at least a DX94HP.......about the same price and for all of your troubles you deserve it.

I live about 18 miles s. of I-70 the 58 mile marker in the show me state. There is an old time CB repairman 10 miles n. of the 78 mile marker along I-70 in the same state. He might be able to fix it. But he's old school from the tube and 23 channel days so it might be a little foreign to him.
