    He can't get that without proof of insurance at the DMV.

    Correct. But the Intransit Permit will get him there without a licence plate.

    Intransit permit aka temporary tag. If you do get stopped by the DOT make sure you tell em that your intention is to register the truck as a private vehicle or RV...that way they will not try to charge you for a fuel tax permit. Montana is bad for that I have found from personal experience.

    First, I have to thank itsneversave, CbarM, bobbyt and Prairie Boy for your outstanding help, and here is the update;

    I just called one of the DMV offices in Arkansas and the lady told me I need to get "Drive out Tag" from any DMV office.

    Next, I will call ICBC Autoplan Broker to inquire about "Binder for Owner's Interim Certificate of Insurance"

    Ask the guy yer buyin it from if he can get the tag for you...save ya runnin around there. And yer welcome. It can sometimes be a complicated process if ya dont have all yer ducks lined up...but if ya do, its a breeze. I have imported 4 trucks from the US over the last 5 years

    Yeah I got it from ICBC Autoplan broker, they are everywhere in BC especially in big cities. Also I got the information kit to export a vehicle from USA Customs and Border Protection I'm almost there, I'm just waiting for Canadian truck dealer to supply me with Recall Clearance Document for the vehicle so far no answer yet, I might need to call the main branch tomorrow morning.

    Sounds like it will be an fairly smooth transaction for ya. The recall letter doesnt have to be done before you pass thru customs, but once you import it n CDN customs puts their stamp on it then you have 45 days to apply for your RIV form otherwise they will make you export it back to the Us

    I wrote directly to the manufacturer for my recall letter and had it the next day. That is where it ultimately comes from anyhow.
