Just started there today. It is true, I'm choosing to have $10 week taken out of my check to pay for them.:biggrin_25510:

Buy your own pallet jack and 2 wheel handtruck FORGET THAT. If they told me that I would've told them to stick it where the sun don't shine... NOW if I lost them and had to pay then back it's a different story as it is my fault.

I always assumed it would be the company's responsibility to provide the employee with the tools needed to perform his/her job. I hope anybody that pays for this equipment and leaves the company gets to take it with them....

A lot of mechanics and construction jobs require own tools. But that is different. At every job I had always had the tools needed to perform. At fedex ground working for a contractor they were responsible for hand trucks. I don't know why r and l makes you buy there own... What do the guys who get fired, quit or retire do with them. Just seems strange to me

I lost my first 2 company provided handtrucks, so I brought one from home that I already had lol, luckily my company doesent keep track of them. Our pallet jacks are not formally assigned either, we just use whatever one is availale and working and just lock them up at the end of the day

At YRC we had assigned hand tricks and pallet jacks when I used to peddle. I lost one handtruck so I had to buy another one for them. Yea I was mad but at the same time I'm at fault. About 2 months later someone actually found it and returned it, they gave me back my money as well, I have no use for the hand truck at home so rather get my money back

If you were to file a grievance on buying that hand truck it would have never got to the point of you buying it. Your contract has you covered on that.
Had a RDWY guy that had bought his own electric pallet jack after the merger he was ordered to get it off the property.
