Hmm, I don't know of any national companies looking to hire jsut part time. Id say look for local gigs like construction or delivery stuff, bevarage distributers..etc.

Hi- I have thought about applying with Coke or Pepsi- but the problem is I would be looking for something 2nd shift or over weekends- I thought that I might be able to get a yard jockey position, but from what I am getting- they want experience also. I don't want to put kids in daycare-Husband works during day. I would not mind learning to operate heavy equipment- but would this go as experience toward A? I have had my B for 10 years- drove school bus for local district about 6yrs- this does not seem to count the same as far as "commercial Driving experience".:biggrin_2554:

I just didn't want to just go over road when I know I wouldn't do it long- I guess I could 'use' a company to get experience- just wanted to avoid it if possible- not interested in Truck hopping!

many companies wont count anything but class a experience in a minimum of 2 states. i drove for 5 1/2 yrs in air force, but that doesn't count for most companies either, since i didn't fall under fmcsa/dot safety regs. have you tried checking for small mom and pop type companies? many of these small family companies are a lil easier to slide into than the big companies.

My husband jason is looking for a good company to work for if anyone has suggestions. He has 8 years exp. with haz mat, tanker, double/triple. He is looking for a home daily job, good pay, lots of work. He is looking anywhere from Trenton down to Camden/Deptford and west like Phillie, Bristol. Thanks for any help or suggestions on where to put applications in at.

I too live in the Harrisburg Pa area. Have you checked into Sygma? They are out past HACC (on the road beside the Farm Show Complex I think its called Industrial). They are home daily from what I understand. I don't know if they require experience or not. There are lots of trucking companies in our area but most want experience. I think UPS takes students as well and they have a terminal in Harrisburg. NEMF, and Ward trucking are in Camp Hill off of Slate Hill road (off of US 15). You also have Shaffer right there in New Kingstown (us 11) plus Schneider and Roadway and Old Dominion. Knight even has a new terminal on US 11 too.

You live in such a great area you should be able to find something that will suit you.

Thanks for the information- Do you happen to know of any second-night shift availability for any companies in the area?
