What large trucking companies still use paper logs

Friend works for Dynamic and they are on ELogs.

 

IDC is still paper (for now).

You'll have electronic as soon as you get a new truck, I got mine in September and now am on elogs, and surprisingly really like them. Wish I'd had them sooner.

Interstate Dist Co uses paper. They aren't switching until its forced.

 

Elogs are not required by the feds, although they did pass a law to that effect in the highway bill. There has been ongoing litigation on elogs since the bill passed. Some of the larger and mid sized carriers have gone to elogs in anticipation of this eventually being settled law. Litigation is likely to go on for several years. It may be thrown out when the dust settles. Some of those who have moved forward (or backward) to elogs have done so due to a high number of log violations. It greatly impacted their CSA and safety score and that resulted in some shippers looking to other carriers to haul their freight. I have no plans to go on elogs. Even if it is finally mandated, there will be a time before it will actually go into effect. We have between 3-5 million trucks on the road in this country. It will take a long time to get every one of them on elogs.

I would suggest that you start reading some of the trucking magazines such as Trucker News, etc., that will have up to date information on new legislation. I would also recommend joining OOIDA. They have a magazine called Landline and publish a hard copy and electronic versions. I receive updates from them daily. OOIDA does a good job of staying on top of pending or proposed legislation which affects the trucking industry.

I'm 22 I don't need a baby sitter anymore. And if I wanted a taddle tale I'd have kids and bring them with me. A little kid is actually probably more accurate than any elog will ever be.
