WORST of the WORST Total Quaility Logistics TQL

Produce?? Out of California to east coast? 10k is good money for that if so.

 

I've hauled 3 loads with TQL the first one was pretty screwy. I called on the load they told me it was a load of lumber. I thought pretty simple and easy only a 250 mile run paying 450, I made the bounce over there. They told me I had to be there by 3 o'clock I made it to town around 1:30 and decided to take a quick shower. Around 2 o'clock o called the broker asking for directions to the shipper. I followed the direction an address they gave me to a T.. After my drive all the way across the city I come to an empty vacant building matching the address. I called the broker again and he said he ha given me the wrong address for another shipment. After getting the right address I drove all the way back across town to literally 2 1/2 blocks from the truck stop I had showered at just an hour before. I arrived at the shipper by this time they were closed and would not load me. I was then stuck there overnight waiting to be loaded the next day. When I went to load I gave the the shipper the load # which was the wrong #. Once that mess was figured out I then found out I was loading rebar vs lumber. I did however manage to negotiate another 150 dollars for the load and down time. My other 2 TQL load went relatively easy and stress free. But I would agree with everyone else I'd stay away from them.

 

I would almost bet that was not a mistake, just a misleading way to get you to haul something that wasn't in the description.

 

i have to say that i hauled MANY loads from TQL last year and other than their seemingly constant contact during the shipment, they were always good to me. i did haul a handful of cheap loads initially, but then they began to call me instead of me calling them, and the rate just kept getting better by the week. Ditto for CH Robinson. the last load i'd hauled for TQL was a "hot load" that paid me $3/mile plus some change. it was a little 5 1/2 hr drive and i had a backhaul to home from another brokerage for $1.70/mile. i started at home and ended up at home the next day. too bad i had already put my rig up for sale before this because i would have stayed in the game if i could keep that going. now, i am saving for another rig, and will hopefully leave my crappy local gig (as a company driver) to go back out there.

 

not trying to poke at you but that rate seem low, who knows maybe its just me ?

a while after I posted this I thought about it for a little bit. I dont know where you were and where you were going, maybe you got top dollar going to point a, maybe in a dead area who knows.

They ask me how much do i need to move a load.. Then they just hang up on me hahaha They are a joke. I seriously believe they think we run our trucks for almost free or just for the hell of it.

 

i do agree with you. he is feeding them. Allowing TQL to think thats what it takes to move it. He hurt himself and every other trucker. I would never run 250 miles for less than 750, and i run cheaper than most....he used his equipment all day to make $250, you will fail if that's your daily rate.

I think what you posted is justified.

 

I really didnt want him to feel I wanted to get into mudslinging .
I would think 250 miles is an all day affair, after loading signing p.w , driving to receiver, parking and getting unloaded and all.
$450- fuel - $150 = $300 for a days run. Thats not including meals, driver pay ( pay yourself ) or anything else. If you had a blow out or a flat, the run is on the house.
I also shoot for $750-$800 MIN. for a 250 mile run and to be honest that doesnt exactly tickle me either.
Ill either look for a longer run thats paying more $ per mile or look for a shorter run where I burn less fuel invest lest time and have more $ at the end of the run.

 

My average length of haul is 330 miles 30% of which is deadhead. That's where the money is. Longhaul dry van is the pits. I'll take longhauls, at my rate, but they're not consistent. Forget longer hauls. If they come to you take them but don't plan your solo truck business on them. Everybody thinks like that and the rates reflect it. Not every 250 haul eats an entire day. I shoot to follow them up same day. You have to figure out how to sort the wheat from the chaff so you don't waste more than half a day on loads like that.
