You are so right. An open message can be read by anyone and when I say anyone, I do mean anyone, even Mr. Moyes himself can read them. I use the open message a lot from time to time when things begin to bother me.

You are fine. Your driver services coordinator is graded on how many students he/she has on mentor trucks, and also turnover. They will do everything they can to get you with another mentor and upgraded. How long it will take, I do not know, but I dont think it should take over a week. You did the right thing.

Good luck to you, Montana. Hopefully this trainer works out better for you and will sign off the things you did that the other didn't sign off.

What happens to the 1% that are incorrect? Considering the volume of accident reports with that many trucks on the road, that could be a huge number. Just ONE mistake could interfere with someone's ability to seek gainful employment elsewhere, which BTW is illegal. HR or Safety or whomever ends up with the blame for it after they finish tossing the blame back and forth like a sparrow caught in a badmitton game, should know better and care enough to fix the problem.

Liz, my reference is to the operations termination code, not what safety puts on the dac. Mine is easily fixed. That is why the letter is sent to the driver also when we submit a term, just in case an error was made. I have only seen 2 errors like this since I have been with Swift, and the drivers called me and it was easily fixed. (It like 99.9 percent correct)

"I generally read most of whats posted. I dont respond to all, I believe the readers are pretty good at spotting who has an ax to grind, or who is not telling the whole story, or who does not understand the industry. We have a place for those legit concerns to call."

Really? Would that be the number that has an automated answering system, and puts a caller on hold for long periods of time before you get to speak to a real person, and then when you finally do, you get transferred to someone's voice mail who never returns the call?

Liz I just called them this morning. Yes sometimes you get voicemail, if they do not have someone available right then, that is where it goes. You have to make sure they are calling quality assurance, not a different dept. I have had drivers tell me they are calling quality assurance, and within an hour I have to explain my decisions to them. By all means, I am not saying your husband did not call, but I want to make sure he called the correct department. How long ago was he with Swift?

our FUTILE attempts to clear up 2 of 4 accidents (such as the ruts in the yard example you used earlier, not involving other vehicles and no citation issued) in FIVE years of service, when my husband wasn't even driving the truck at the time, his student was.

Sounds like he was talking with the safety department, not quality assurance. He was trying to get something fixed. I have been meaning to post the ATA accident guidelines. It is useful, but you will still not like what it says. An accident is anything that causes damages to anything. Preventable or non preventable does not follow who received a citation etc.. My question would be, is the student telling safety he had an accident (usually the person who has an accident calls the claim in), did his logs and your husbands both confirm who was driving at that time? Without any info infront of me, I can only ask some relative questions. I am not picking sides here, I can see that you are passionate about this, and you are doing an excellent job standing up for your husband.

In our case that is a 50% error margin, not 1%, and IS significant (to us). My husband takes great pride in his work ethic and his driving record and nobody will take care of this problem for us. You're living in a dream world if you believe that it's as simple as a phone call to get a problem solved at Swift.

Without the information in front of me I can not tell you anything. This may not be a problem to be fixed, but a perception of a problem. (Dont shoot me, just making a statment).

I don't think everyone here has an axe to grind with Swift Wes. Alot of the complaints I have read here are 100% true, based on my husband's experience and what we had to live with during his employment there. Not only has my husband been asked to drive illegally, he was TAUGHT how to do it at his terminal and had to listen to me nag incessantly for him not to. That was the only problem I had with Swift too. I never complained about him being gone for 2 month stretches without being able to come home, spending holidays alone because his DM depended on him, or anything else.

The longest I have had someone not get home was 3 weeks, and they were due home at week 2. 2 months does not sound correct. There is something wrong with that. For running illegal, I would hope that he just said no if he was asked. (He was being asked to run illegal while he was mentoring?). That is not the norm. I am not saying its not possible, but if it happens, Safety needs to be notified

Without the drivers there would be no transport companies. Everyone's salaries, including yours, are paid with their long hours on the road, time away from their families, and life living from truck stop to truck stop. They need to be treated with more respect. It's a great idea for your DM's to have to hit the road for a week, but that is not long enough. They should be required to live on a truck for at least a month to see what it's really like for a driver. That's the only way they can appreciate them.

I wish I could keep them out a month, but a week is a start. Half my staff are ex drivers. And you are correct on the rest.

    Wes

We know that outfit blows. We trust you.

Congrats on breaking out. That should have happened after only "many months" instead of many years, though.
