Week 2 Day 7: Road trip to South Georgia and the Albany drop yard. Traveled down one route and traveled back via a different route. Very good road trip and drive time for all.

Wow, reading this thread has made me decide on Millis to start my new career. 52 here and told my wife this is what I want to do till I retire completely. Been driving a 26' truck for a company that just isn't making it anymore. So I spent some money on schooling and got my CDL A and waiting for the right job to come along like maybe Millis. Hope they bring me in for a look. Thanks to everyone here for posting on this thread.

Millis only hires from their own schools OR you need 1 yr of experience

Week 2 Day 8: Over-the-hill has a new meaning today as we went driving through the hills today. I've driven in hills/mountains before...but not in a semi! It was an eye opener for sure....some turns I swear I could see the doors of the trailer...just kidding, but we had some tight turns, shifting and braking practice that was very beneficial...added bonus was some awesome scenery!! Half way there!! Then when we got back, had a visit from Baritone who's posts many of you have read on here and his page on Facebook, One Trucker's View. If you haven't seen it, check it out...it will be worth your time!! Another great day!

Week 2 Day 10: Backing range start today! Started with straight line and parallel parking. Haven't parallel parked since driver's ed. in high school and that was more years ago than I want to remember. However, parallel parked a 73' semi today! End of second week...1 more to go then orientation! Have a great weekend and stay safe out there!

Good luck! My last student quit on me after he failed his pretrip early this week, I think he just wanted to go home though. I've been assigned a student out of your class.

Hate to hear he quit. Pre-test gets several from what I've heard, but not a reason to give up. Hope whichever one of us you have been assigned works out. We have some good people in this class and all seem ready start and see it through to the end.
