Do car carriers need tow truck endorsement?

    No, you pay for it and pay dearly. They do have the HELP trucks that provide basic tire changes and fuel delivery for non-commercial motorists but everything else is their authorized providers only, at your expense. The rates are regulated but usually higher than the cash rates off the restricted highways.

    Some states like NY or CA require Tow Truck Drivers get a PC Permit for towing cars or trucks. Im sure there are more states that have this. No you do not need a PC Permit for car carrier.

    Virginia requires it also. Fingerprints get registered with state police, and a back ground check. Can't get it if any assault or felony theft convictions. This is only for the rollback and wrecker drivers.
