you can pop your hood. and watch the engine as you slowly let the clutch out. but not enough to kill the engine out and only do it briefly. see if the engine jumps. some trucks will actually break the fan shrouds and possibly cut the radiator and fan if the engine moves too much.
Already did that. Also, I crawled under and looked at them with a flashlight. You can see the rubber is cracked, split and has shrunk. I know they are bad, just curious about replacement cost. Volvo quoted $2600 just for labor. I Can get all 3 mounts for about $300 but don't know if it's a job I want to attempt
Your going to have to lift the engine some to get the mounts in place. They probably won't slide out and in and line right up. That should answer your question.
Hi, I have a vnl780 2005 and did the mounts last month at a smaller shop and saved a bunch. Dealer charges to what I've read over 2k$. Which is ridiculous if true. It's a tricky job just have to be careful, my mechanic lifted up engine by supporting evenly using the oil pan. Sounds crazy but he says he has done it like that for years. I was shocked myself. Lifted it up enough to swap. That's probably not the right way, I wonder how dealer does it?? 200$ labor plus mount I'll take that. Hope this helps
