Its ok. I had an interesting youth. I did some things I'm not proud of, enforcer for a shylock, grand theft, dui, assault, extortion,.. you name it. If I get arrested one more time,.. even now almost 25 yrs later,.. they would look at my record and probably get me on the 3 strikes law. And all this was done before I was 25. I was on a really bad path. Marriage and the birth of my son gave me a new perspective and outlook on life.

I know the consequences if I ever get in trouble again,.. so I do my best to stay out of situations that would allow a prosecutor to look at my past record and judge me today on what I did as a 20 yr old thug. I'm approaching 50 now and have done my best to live a good honest life since then.

Its funny sometimes when I go on certain military bases. They run me and the look on their face is priceless. There is no mistaking what they are seeing and then glance at me. I have to remind them to look at the time span between then and now. At that point, its up to the base commander to allow me in or not. Usually I need an escort for the secure bases. Some are douchbags and put trespass warrants on me. Telling me if I ever return, that I will be arrested. Some places like Ft Bliss in Tx just let me in and roam around.

I watched a guy in NM at Holloman AFB get arrested for child support. Fortunately he had a co driver. But man,.. could you imagine having your truck sitting there under a load and getting arrested like that?

I had an interesting youth myself brother,,,I just never got caught. I feel I am paying for it all now though, in one way or another. I too am approaching 50 and have lived a life of Integrity since 2007, for the most part anyway. You don't just wake up one day and HAVE Integrity,,,you work at it and I can say I have it more today than I did in 2007, when I turned my life around.

I know of a guy that had two strikes and then he had posession of a street sign,,,,strike 3, 25 years to life. All 3 of his strikes were not violent in any way. Anyway,,I am glad you too cleaned up your life and went the straight and narrow path. I am sure you will be ok, you have a good grasp on what not to do. I will be nervous for a while, going onto Military bases but, I will get past it.

exactly ! when i hauled gas onto offutt afb it was as you said ..they hauled em off to jail left and right .
i personally think the laws concerning ex felons with time on theyre convictions are absurd .
one of my best pals in iowa got into a problem with a gun pointed at someone 30 years ago and did a little time ..he still has a hard time findin a decent job and cant even hunt legal .

so I guess you learned nothing from your kings bay deal?. ft. stewart is quite a bit more than a training base. in 35 years of drivng I have never had need of a firearm to defend myself.

sheepdog, you should possibly be more upfront about that firearm or this story wont end well. I would suggest you not taking loads to eglin air base, Groton, ct sub base, Norfolk naval with nuclear ships, Langley air base, or dover afb. you are gonna be real surprised when the explosives dog get you.

Man,,sure feels like I am having to defend myself more on this forum then ever before, for being honest and up front.... what exactly do you think/feel I didn't learn from my Kings Bay deal? I don't know exactly what Ft Stewart is ALL about but, I do know it is mostly just a Base ok,, I am not a text book of knowledge when it comes to the Military,,try as one might, you can never know all there is to know about the Military, even if you just focus on the Army or whatever one is into at that time.

Just because YOU sir have never had a need for a firearm does not mean no one else will. I am starting to feel like you and I had a similar talk about a subject that I can't remember and I stated to you then as I do now,,,don't put everyone into the same black pot. Surely you recall Jason,,,the guy that got held up by two men, shot and then burned up in his truck? If he would have had a firearm, maybe things would be a little different for him and his family, maybe. I have a license to carry my firearm in 34 states and I can't possibly know which base's I can't carry on and which ones I can, except for Kings Bay. I didn't go onto Ft Jackson exactly and I was never asked at UTES if I had anything,,,just let on. Same with Ft Stewart,,,just let on the motor pool, never asked anything, in fact I went onto the Base for 15 miles before I got to the motor pool, anyone can drive on the base. At least that day they could, there was no guard.

Now, as me your questions regarding the firearm, and my lack of upfrontness about it?

Obviously I don't know what the other two felonies were but they couldn't have been too bad if they didn't jail him. I simply cannot imagine how any civilized country can put a guy away for life over a street sign. Heck that's what you get for murder. I suppose that's what one gets when the prisons are "for profit" Insane. Never mind. Carry on.

3rd felony,.. regardless of what it is = 25 to life. Well,.. its up to the prosecutor,.. but its an option they can enforce.

I have 2 with a bunch of VOP's and dumb arrests like disorderly, lewdness, a few others. At 19 yrs old I had nothing. Nothing to lose and no future. I lived out of a duffel bag. All I knew was street hustling.
