Well the current activity is following the short-term norm, but the period norm is heading lower and lower each year, lately. New York manufacturing is still manufacturing, none-the-less. They do what few others do in the nation. What I'm saying is, I doubt their business was lost to other domestic competitors.

No doubt we are headed for bad times again, just a matter of what the trip is going to be like and how long it will take. But the thing is, we have no emergency chute to pull any longer in the event of a deep recession/depression (lower the interest rates), so the next recovery is going to be long and very miserable for many. The only thing that can be done is to reduce or eliminate certain taxes/deduction tied to production and expansion, and that's going to mean the government is going to have to tighten their belt or expect China and Japan to keep buying our bonds, but they are headed for bad times too. So, hang on to your socks, it's going to get ugly. We are already bankrupt, we spend MUCH more then we produce/sell, we disparage wealth and success, where do you think this can lead besides somewhere very dark?

Analysts I have been reading have cited some interesting observations and predict serious woes starting around mid September. The stock market pumping by the fed is ending and the dumping has already begun, insiders are cashing out now. Metal prices are slowly rising, while stock move lower. Commodity prices are falling which indicates a much slower manufacturing sector signaling a slump in transportation. Good luck this fall and winter...winter rates are already upon us.

Yeah and there both doing a horrible job at it. China's stock market lost more money then the US stock market did during the entire great recession. Then there is the massive pollution problem they got, then there is the fact they are entering a massive population decline not to mention according to the UN they are going to run out of water in the next 15 years...yes they are currently on track to run out of water completely in the next 15 years.

Not exactly signs of impending world dominance.

Thank goodness for cheap freight and shower power and for every two fillups attaining enough points for 2 king size Snickers bars. BTW it's still Bush's fault. Mmhmm.:banghead::biggrin_25521::3some:

But on the flip side, we no longer need to rely on world oil.
