had a 07 int with a isx. took me 3000 dollars and a shade tree mechanic to figure out it is the egr over pressure sensor on the drivers side of the engine. the two lines and sensor get clogged up with soot. take off the sensor and blow it out with canned air,not compressed air. then blow the two lines out with compressed air use to have this issue every 50000 or so miles 10 mil wrench two bolts about 30 min fix. make sure you get the o rings set correctly
They wanna pull the cover and check my orings. Should i let them to see if thats the problem with black fuel?
That seems high. I use cat sos sample kits its $33.00 and you can sample either oil, fuel or engine coolant.
Hey Pete just talked to cat and they no longer test fuel even though its still listed in the kit form they supply. They gave me a number for a lab that does . South west research institute.. Tx 210 522 2181. They will do work for the public . Might be cheaper?
I just spoke to the lab in TX and explained that the fuel is turning black and your only consuming 1.5 gallons of oil on 20 thousand miles. The lab tells me that it would most likely be soot as the fuel is not clumping up (alage)and 1.5 gallons of engine oil on 20000+ miles would not really contaminate the fuel where you could notice it. There going to email me there costs for a sample.
Spoke to NTP today who my warranty for truck is from. They want them to pull my injectors and check that. If this is not the problem im taking the truck and leaving. if i call in about a problem with the truck to NTP they want it fixed before it leaves they will only cover the head to be taken off if something is wrong aka pistions need replacing or something lol.. im ask 2moro about a fuel sample from them i know they wanted to put a dye in my oil
I'm also leaning toward injector o-rings, but a stuck EGR valve could also be the culprit, as could a turbo actuator going bad.
