HI. I have 2 "preventable accidents". One was a minor backing accident at a customer where i did very little damage with my tractor mud flap on one of there tractors. The other one I'm definitely disputing and involved minor damage to a trailer door. My question is do I get to explain these to a future employer during the application process? These were by no means typical road driving accidents. It seems unfair to lump these in with serious road accidents. thanks

Anytime you run into a stationary object (i.e. one that is not moving) it is 100% preventable. You can rationalize it till you're blue in the face, explain till you fall down, even paint it pink and purple with green polka dots, but it is still preventable. Your fault. End of story.

OK, but what about this one,,,was backing in slowly to dock when big wind gust lifted a trailer door latch off the bar , swung the door violently back when i was about 5 feet from dock and had no time to react thus pinning the door between dock and truck and damaging the door. I even had a witness saw it happen.

The person you'd need to explain it to is the insurance company. You're more expensive to insure even if you're not a major liability. Good luck fighting the one and good luck with the job search. Someone will hire you.

Thanks, appreciate it. I ordered my DAC from HireRight yesterday. Should I wait to apply to other companies until after I see whats on it? Or can I go ahead and appeal that incident through HireRight now? Thanks

Go to a company that doesn't piss around with junk like dac. There are thousands of companies that don't bother with that nonsense.

First of all, they are incidents, not accidents. Big difference in the way the brain processes the two words.

Possibly but at least you would have a chance to explain the situation.

Tons of companies will hire you. Be an adult about it and explain what happened when they ask. #### DAC
