I have been looking at going to United Truck Driving School in Murfreesboro. They have ties to Star and the owner of that school recommended them to me. The option and/or possibility of working Nissan dedicated and being home daily or weekly is very attractive to me. Appreciate all the info.

They take a certain percent of your pay out of your check pre-tax, tax the remainder, then pay you the taxed amount and the untaxed amount every week. The reason why it's an option is because you stay on the road so much, and possibly away from home on a regular basis. It shows that you make less pay, say if you are trying to get a loan, it would be less proof of income. But more money in your pocket every week. I'm not planning on getting any loans any time soon so it doesn't bother me. It would also cut your income tax return if you are use to a fat check every year. Hope that helps. -
Not a problem. Good luck which ever route you take.

I heard they take like .03 cents per mile and pay you 60 bucks a day. Any truth there?
-
For the per diem?
-
Yeah that's what another person had told me that used to work for them.
-
I'm not even sure how that calculates in to anything that makes sense. At .03 x approx 500-600 miles per day equals $17-18. But they do take out a certain amount of cpm, just for the purpose of taxing the rest, then it all goes back in what they took out.

Ok thanks, let me know how your training goes. I should be there end of January or the beginning of February so I'm interested to know what the experience is like.
Troutfisher83 Thanks this. -
I will probably be done with my training tonight and be getting my truck on Wednesday. I was somewhat fast tracked because I had class A experience, but it was all local deliveries in a day cab. I think new drivers who recently graduated will be with a trainer for 4 weeks or so, depending on how much training is needed. But this has been a fantastic experience so far. I will post back on here and update you over the next few days.

The CPM shouldn't matter as long as the miles are there and the small companies are just as bad as the large ones it's 50/50 with anything you choose its just that the big ones are in the notice all the timeTroutfisher83 Thanks this.
