Have a failed rear gasket in the flywheel housing spewing oil all over the bottom of the truck. Truck only has 302xxx miles. If this going to be covered under warranty? I was told yes when I dropped the truck off, but twice I've been told that at other dealers only to be told no when I pick the truck up. it's a huge job as they have to remove the trans and a few other things to get this done. Clearly to me it's an engine issue and should be covered, but you know how they try to weasle out of this stuff.
are you sure its rear gasket in the flywheel housing? usually on dd15 camshaft housing gasket goes bad and the oil goes down . take your truck to Detroit diesel dealer and they will be happy to fix it if you have warranty. don't go to freightliner.
It is at a DD dealer, which also happens to be a Freightliner dealer. They steamed it at the initial diagnosing and determined it was leaking from the flywheel housing. 3 day job is what I was told, but covered under warranty according to the service manager on Saturday. Of course the Monday guy will prob tell me something completely different.
Not up on dd , but I'd be up the Monday's guys butt...... Just to be sure. And check the clutch while your there . Best of luck.
Thanks, yea I'll be checking on it first thing in the morning. Thought about doing the clutch, but with only 300xxx I wouldn't think it would need it. How about rear motor mounts?
at 450k warranty covered entire inframe on my engine. your engine will be covered too. but some lazy freightliners dealers will not repair it. because they are lazy and backed few weeks.
