Wow, why doesn't he retire his brother???:biggrin_25524: Seems it would be less expensive. I'm sure his Insurance Company is getting tired of it.

They do - I'm driving a long nose.

However, I've been told that they're going away in the next year or less, since they're reaching the end of their program age (mine has 422K miles on it). It's due for servicing in 15K miles, and I half expect it to go away at that time.

I'm not particularly happy about it, either. Trained up in a 387, and thought the 379 would be a bear. Instead, I find that the turning radius is not all that different, and it's a quieter AND smoother ride. It's pretty nice truck for a single driver. Put a passenger in it and.. it might be a little cramped.

A little MORE cramped, I should say, than I'd be happy with.

Still, I can understand why the OP would want to keep with it.

For my money, the biggest downside is that I can barely get 5.1 mpg running western 11. Overall average is 4.9 so far. I don't mind, but I can see why the company would object.

I drove a 387, 379, and I was assigned a freightliner that had serious problems turbo kept cutting out even after I got a new one.
I bailed due to the truck having problems and could not get along with my dispatcher out of layton was allways beeing bugged by my dispatcher on my hometime and a few other problems.

I am looking at comming back next year because they have the terminal open in denver now and will have a sit down come to jesus meeting with the new dispatcher about not calling me and qcing me all the time.
Basically I understand that I am still a newbee but I do not want to be bothered all of the time unless they see that I may be late for an appointment.

I had one late load to spoke ann valley sp? wa.
Because I was never given a delivery time even after I asked before accepting the load ,during the trip and the night before I was suppose to be there.
I was finally told about 8-10 hours before the load was due that it was set for 0800 delivery and I was 4 hours late because of not haveing the appointment time relayed to me.
Had the time been given to me I would of drove longer on the two days and would of arrived early for the delivery.
my old truck number was 2532 I was there from july to october.

It was a good thing that I had detailed messages on the qualcomm asking her for the delivery times before accepting the load, after picking up the load on the live loaded call, the day after picking the load up that night before she left, the day before it delivered and that night before she got off and then I finally said heck with it and qualcommed the night dispatch they fially gave the delivery time.
Then after I got the time I informed them I could not legaly get it there in time due to my hours beeing out that night and for the fact that I was never given the time by my dispatcher.
The day of delivery amy called me and asked if I was going to be on time I told her nope she asked why I told her that well you never give me the time of delivery. So she got really nasty with me saying oh it my fault? I said up and hung up the phone. Then she tried to physco call my phone and I never answered then qualcomm beep answer your phone. I replied no I will macro you when I arriave at shipper and then when mt.

I had a problem they dispatched me to a load going to loveland walmart dc and I droped that load there the night before delivery.
I send in my drop for repower macro and then the night dispach qualcommed me were did you drop it I told them at the delivery destination they accepted it early. So they tell me to send in a mt call so I did and then asked what kind of loads do they have they say nothing for tonight you need to find a ts and sit till am.
I asked well can I just go home and sleep in my own bed they say we can not give you premission to go home I said ok then just to let you know I am going home. The night dispatcher told me no you can not I said well I am only 20 miles from home I am going home.
The next day I get a call from amy and first thing she said is why did you go home I replied that well I was not going to sleep in the truck being 20 miles from home.
So she said go and check the qualcom I have a preplan so I go out to were our pre arrainged parking location was and it is a beer load out of golden to lousiana.
It has to be there in a couple two or three days I said well we have a problem she said what I asked her how may hours do I have to run this load as every am we are required to qualcom in our hours used hours avalible.
She responed she does not have that info handy and I said well I only have 11 avalible and not picking that many back up the next day how does she expect me to deliver on time and get home for my hometime.

I also had problems with her on my last scheduled home time she called me ever day once sometimes two or three times in a day so I shut it off then she goes in to my personel file and get my home phone number physco calling it and then her boss kathy started calling my phone and asked are you comming back I said yes but I am getting tired of all the calls on my hometime by amy.
Kathy tried to say that I never answered my phone for amy and I said I had answered alot of the calls untill I got tired of the calls all of the time.

My old dispatcher was Amy she is a black lady in layton. She has had major problems keeping people on her board because the way she treats them.

Ahhh, Layton. I wonder if it's the office. When I started with my trainer, he was with a lady in Layton. Had been out of the Layton dispatch for 5 years. Every driver I've talked to has had... less than pleasant things to say about that office. I've only been through a few times, and *I* have unpleasant things to say about it.

After less than 2 weeks on the road with me, he changed dispatchers to one in Denver. Much better, he says.

My dispatcher is in denver, too. She doesn't waste her time - or mine - bugging me on the Q-com. I give my hours, I give my ETA, I give my PTA... the usual. She was genuinely irritated about what happened to me in Spokane (changing the delivery appointment by 4 days)

She has never called my phone - nobody has, unless I asked them to. If they want to talk to me by voice, they drop me a Q-Com note, because they know I won't talk on the phone when I'm driving.

I'd suggest, if you are thinking about it, come on down to the Denver terminal and talk to Danny or Tim... the worst that can happen is that you'll decide that now isn't the time.

The layton office is a horrible place to be out of I was told this by many older drivers there. Since they opened a terminal in denver that is the main reason that I wanted to go back.
It was only rummored that there was going to be a terminal there for years now they finnaly did it.
Is the terminal at the bullocks xpress lot?
That is where the drop yard was last year when I worked for them.
