WELL, my one laptop took it in and had VISTA taken out and XP put in.

It had not been running right since I had it done and was not sure what the heck was wrong with it.

It was slow and was for some reason still getting updates from microsoft for VISTA.......sigh weird I know.

Had to have a guy come out and look at it. He had to take everything out and start over from scratch by emptying and reloading the XP and even had to do something with a VIDEO CARD that was not done when XP was first installed.

Well, now Iam running better and much faster..........sigh

    It never ends..............:biggrin_2552:

Just got a laptop yesterday, Had to have it for a project upgrade that I want to do for a shopping cart, that is a total change of platforms. It has XP on it. I had a computer guru put it together for me and load all my software.

Once I'm done with this project, the laptop will be on the truck with Marty.

I certainly hope that I don't ever have to go to vista, since my first experience was such a nightmare. :biggrin_2554:

I'm so not looking forward to getting a new laptop simply because of Vista. :biggrin_25512:

I really like XP. Especially the Media Center edition I had in my laptop that was stolen.

I did the same thing...Think my next laptop will be a Mac.
Still have Vista on the wife's laptop because she's in law school and they use programs that run Vista only programs. She hates it.

Not long ago I borrowed a laptop with Vista on it.
I found Vista in & of itself isn't that bad an OS.
I was able to navigate it fairly intuitively.
It's like any other MS offering, it'll take a couple years to get it right.
MS loves to build stuff ...and then design it in the field. (reminds me of Motorola)

About the only thing I didn't like was having to purchase new Office software because the older stuff isn't supposed to work on Vista.

I don't know this to be a fact & I didn't have time to try loading an older version of Office.
I needed to be productive right away so off I went to buy the Office suite.

Anybody have any success using an older Office suite on Vista?

BSOD's are my favorite to troubleshoot. They are a good challenge.

Didn't have a problem loading Office 2000 on Vista. BUT here's the kicker, when installing software on Vista, You have to go to My Computer, then right click on your CD/DVD rom drive and tell it to install in a Windows XP or whatever environment.

It took me 9 hours to figure this out, and get photoshop 7 on a Vista laptop. :biggrin_2554: But it runs well on the laptop now. Just had to tell it to install in a Windows 2000 Environment. :biggrin_2552:

I have had no problem with my $345 walmart acer computer with vista basic on it. Has run 16 hours a day in the truck since November with no problems. I had to tweak some setting initially but have had no problems.
