never taught manual transmission !!!

I would go and force that school to train you on the manual trans your school can not accept the wia funds and not provide you with enough training to get hired at any company.
That is in their contracts with the wia program that you must be employable at the end of training once you have your cdl.
You can go to the Wia program and tell them you was not able to learn how to shift a manual trans and that you have been denied employment due to that.
They can call the school and get them to let you be trained in a manual trans truck for a few days or get a refund from the school so you can attend another school.

I was surprised to hear about Schneider, last I heard they were converting to all Ultra-Shift Pilot. I went through the training program and spent 18 months working for them and all the new trainees were taught on auto. I never stepped in a truck with manual transmission.

I applied to another company and accepted a position, all trucks were 10 speed. Did a lousy job on the road test so the company assigned me a trainer for a week. I picked-up pretty quick, THANK GOODNESS!!

I would talk to your Schneider recruiter and explain you need to be put into an auto. I think they could easily accommodate that request.

You are so right. I told my WIA rep and he said they were not sending any more people to that school. The problem is there are so many agencies that use WIA and send people to that school. I hate to see anyone else get burned. He also went down to the school about a month ago and the director of the school lied about everything. Also, when the ONE manual transmission truck WAS legal and running, the students would have to physically hold the shifter in 4th and 9th gears because it kept jumping out.

The agency I used also said there was not justification for not paying the school. BUT, that was before the Schneider incident. We talked about going to a different school, but that would be another 4 to 5 weeks of training.

 

I am going to call them. The recruiters there may not even know the difference in transmissions! Thanks to all of you for your responses. FYI, I should have known better than to go to this school as I know a bit about the owner and the trucking company he owns.

There are lots of videos on shifting at U tube, eaton Fuller roadranger site and others. You can't shift like a car taking off. If you give the truck a lot of throttle you will burn the clutch out. Wait until pedal is all the way engaged before you bring in much fuel and you will be fine. Shifting is not as hard as many would like you believe. But proper shifting is very important to keep your truck running and to get good fuel MPG. If you passed all the other elements of training ok you should be ok.

 

Well I have read if you go to C R England or schneider if you already have your cdl they will not charge you to go through their school. I will do some checking on the schneider to make sure for you.
